Common questions

Questions we often hear

Can I claim my mortgage interest?

Not as an expense for residential properties you own personally. Instead you get a tax credit worth 20% of your mortgage interest and other finance costs. We work this out for you and check it is applied correctly.

Does Making Tax Digital apply to me?

It applies if your combined income from property and self-employment is over £50,000, and is due to extend to those over £30,000 from April 2027 and over £20,000 from April 2028. We can confirm where you stand.

I let a holiday cottage. Has anything changed?

Yes. The special tax rules for furnished holiday lets ended in April 2025, so holiday lets are now taxed much like other residential lettings. We can explain what this means for your tax bill.

Should I own my properties through a limited company?

It depends on your income, your plans for the portfolio and your mortgage options. We can run through the figures with you in a free consultation.
